Answers to Questions
- Will there be a RESTful API for Primfeed? Not in the near future. The platform is focusing on user-facing features first, and developer APIs are not currently a priority.
- Can I get notified if someone unfollows me? Not planned. However, improvements are coming to the follower/following interface, allowing you to see who follows you back.
- How do I mention/tag someone in a post? Simply type
@username(e.g.,@lukerowley) and select their name from the dropdown that appears. This works for all users and is not a premium feature. - Will there be a way to find events I’ve posted to edit them later? Yes! A new “Events” tab is coming to your profile. It will list all events you’ve created, making them easier to find and share.
- Will events show up in my main feed? Not yet, but planned. Eventually, posting an event will automatically share it to your followers in a visually rich format (not just a link).
- Are hashtags still coming in the first half of 2025? Yes, that’s the current goal. Work is already in progress, along with a new search engine to support it.
- Will there be a “Tagged Photos” section on profiles? Probably not anytime soon. It’s a nice-to-have but lower on the roadmap compared to albums, search, and groups.
- Can I see all likes on my post, not just the latest 10? Yes! You can click the like count on your post to view the full list of users who liked it—no 10-person limit.
- The 24-hour posting limit is confusing. Can you improve it? Yes. A tooltip showing a countdown to your next available post will be added. The red error banner will be replaced or clarified.
- Will there be albums? Yes! Albums are confirmed and expected to be released before Groups/Communities. This is one of the major features on the roadmap.
- What inspired Primfeed? Luke noticed widespread dissatisfaction with Flickr among Second Life users. He ran a survey that showed high interest in a dedicated social platform for SL—and so Primfeed was born. Full backstory here: Inara Pey’s blog post
